the Tractors Gone Wild calendar donated $47,000 to causes like St. Jude’s and the American Family Children’s Hospital.

September 24th, 2017 by admin

“[The calendar is] just a bunch of girlfriends and a bunch of local tractors,” says Joleen Schreiber. She started making the calendar in 2007 when a radio station challenged listeners to create something that reminded them of Wisconsin. Since then, it’s taken off. They sell nearly 2,000 editions each year. The women have even gotten requests to send calendars internationally.

“[I'll miss] the memories, how close we’ve gotten with each other,” says Amy Orvis, featured as July 2016. “As well as meeting all the different farmers and the great stories and the experience.” “You go to the farm. You meet the farmers. You hear all about their tractor. It’s the greatest thing. It doesn’t matter what weather it is, you go out and you take a picture with the tractor,” says Cathy Jo Schreiber featured as January 2016. “It’s usually a big gathering. We’re talking they get their neighbors and the friends over, and they’re asking questions and talking to you and making fun of you, and it’s all great.”

The hard work has paid off though. The women say they have donated $47,000 to causes like St. Jude’s and the American Family Children’s Hospital.

“When it’s freezing, I’m like, I’m doing this for the children!” says Amy.

Ming’s, the well known Honda restoration shop, scored some 1967 N600s, one happened to be serial #1

When Honda’s first fleet of 50 prototype N600s finished winter testing in 1967, they were sold for scrap to a junkyard, a few days later a Honda employee saw one heading down the road—it turns out the enterprising scrapyard owner decided to make a little money on the side as America’s first bootleg Honda dealer. Honda made sure the remaining 47 cars were crushed, but three N600s had already escaped into the wild.

“They took 50 [Japanese market] N360s off the assembly line,” Tim Mings says, speaking from his shop in California, “And installed these hot-rod 600cc engines. You can see how many of the parts are early prototypes, lots of sand-cast metal.”

Mings found one of the three escapee ‘67 prototypes sitting on a trailer in Pomona, and made an offer. As it turned out, the owner had another N600 in his garage and asked if Mings wanted that one, too. He bought the car sight unseen and took it back to his garage where it sat for several years. Until one day he scraped off some of the debris covering the VIN, and there it was: N600-1000001.

If you want your own chance to see the first Honda in America, jot the Long Beach Japanese Classic Car Show on your calendar. Now in its 12th year, Mings calls the show a must-see event. After that, serial number one will be tucked away in Honda’s private museum in Torrance, which isn’t open to the public.

Waco police vs biker shootout autopsy results finally released, 3 months after cops killed bikers, still no official word on who shot who, cops look guilty as hell

August 15th, 2015 by admin

Waco Sgt. Patrick Swanton declined to comment, citing a gag order in the criminal case of Matthew Clendennen, one of the 177 people arrested and jailed following the May 17 shootout on allegations of engaging in organized criminal activity.

All but two of the 177 have been released, and no one has been formally charged.

The autopsies were performed by the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.

Honolulu’s Exec Director of Housing, wants to convert five donated, decommissioned city buses into transitional shelters for homeless.

June 21st, 2015 by admin

“The idea is to convert them into living, sleeping, showering, recreational facilities,” she said.

Like the buses, supplies for the refurbishment are be

ing donated by a host of organizations. Labor will be on a volunteer basis.

“The entire design is based on the premise that you could walk in to a hardware store, buy everything you need in one go and build everything with no trade skills,” she said.

The buses are designed to work in fleets. As opposed to an RV, which is more or less a house on wheels, buses will each have a specific purpose.

“We’re fitting some out to be bathrooms and showers, we’re fitting some out to be sleeping areas, and the design completely folds away like a little Japanese tatami mat.”

While every detail of the buses has been accounted for, the reaction to them was not.

“It’s completely organic, and we when we started did not even realize number one what a need there was for this, and number two how people can benefit from it…but mostly how many people want to help.”

Kim is hoping to complete the first two buses this summer, and have the first five done this calendar year. Details on who will operate the buses and where they will be deployed are still being finalized.

this is why women model in advertising… but after getting flack from idiots, this Ducati shop manager showed the how stupid critics are, by giving them what they want… equal opportunity to look at men modeling the same Ducati, in the same pose

Everybody happy now? The shop owner is brilliant, give them what they want, prove they were idiots to bitch about the human condition without offering a better solution, and demonstrate the equal rights isn’t just a phrase. I feel sorry for all the beautiful women put out of work by cranky activists… beautiful women can only suffer by the activism of others who condemn the natural method of sexing up advertising. Above, you see the opposite, and I think it’s incontrovertible… women in advertising sells, men in advertising is ridiculous, but prove a point

I was a fan of Phil Foglio’s when he did the art for Asprin’s Myth series, I just learned during Comic Con that he and his wife have a 12 volume set of illustrated books (Ok, big comic books) called Girl Genius, and the first can be sampled online to get a feel for it
