Happy Ferris Bueller day! I bet you didn’t know June 5th was anything car related special… but it happens to be the anniversary of the day Ferris took off to watch the Cubs played the Braves in 1985

June 5th, 2018 by admin

the Cubs’ June 5 game against the Braves occurred on a Wednesday and plausibly happened near the end of Bueller’s senior year, which matches with the details given in the movie. Paramount has also celebrated June 5 as the definitive marker. As such, Granillo’s baseball theory remains the most airtight marker of Bueller’s day off.

They went a bit silly on the Veloster in the upcoming super hero movie, Ant Man and the Wasp

January 30th, 2018 by admin

Nice Weld Star rims, but the side pipes? A bit silly, especially when you see this car drive away and see that they still have the two exhaust tips in under the license plate

the movie looks like it’s going to be terrific

for gods sake they even have the passenger side pipes block the back door!

Our Family Car

January 18th, 2018 by admin

Lujan, purchased the Chevy from a cousin in the early 1980’s while he was creating the movie-themed artwork in the Hollywood and Vine Metro station.

one of many of Lujan’s family cars looks essentially as it did in 1987 when Lujan used it as a canvas.

Using pinstriping brushes and lacquer-based textile crayons, Luján transformed his family’s 1950 Chevrolet sedan into a lowrider with what he called “a lighthearted kind of folk art narrative.” Unlike other lowriders, Luján humorously blends the aesthetic elements of street rods with symbols of Chicana/o culture.

Later, when times were tough, Lujan used the car to cover rent and traded it to his landlord, who stored it in the auto-salvage yard he owned.

Another artist bought it, but he then needed money, and a pawn shop ended up putting the car for sale on eBay.

Dunlap was shopping for a hot rod on the website when he saw the ad for the 1950 coupe, went to the shop, paid $7,000 for the Chevy and drove it home.

Dunlap sought out Lujan and commissioned the artist to restore the car to its original glory. They became close friends.

the 1978 Hornet AMX had an optional hood decal

January 9th, 2018 by admin

Optional for the Hornet AMX was a large hood decal that was right around the time of Smokey and the Bandit, so perhaps AMC was trying to benefit from the halo effect, or maybe Mr. Wangers was applying the same ideas to both cars (he advised on the modifications for the Trans Am used in the movie).

AMC approached Jim Wangers of Motortown Corporation to create a more exciting version of the Hornet.

Motortown specialized in creating limited-run specialty editions of production cars that the large manufacturers couldn’t do profitably in-house, and was responsible for such cars as the Pontiac GTO Judge.

An appearance package was developed along with some suspension tuning, but unfortunately, the EPA certification requirements triggered by drivetrain upgrades prevented the possibility of a larger engine such as the 360, which would have been a drop-in replacement.

So the Hornet AMX debuted with either a 110 hp 258 c.i.d (4.2-liter) straight-six coupled with either a four-speed manual or an automatic with floor shift, or the 150 hp 304 c.i.d (5.0-liter) V8 with a Chrysler-sourced automatic.

did anyone else notice the tribute Barracuda in the Logan movie deleted scenes? In the clip Logan Gets A Ticket, the Challenger has a 71-72 Barracuda looking grill center section

June 16th, 2017 by admin

In this brief deleted scene in the BluRay extras, Logan, Charles and Laura are attempting to evade the bad guys seeking them, a cop asks them to pull the car over. Turns out Logan was speeding. Doing 86

the movie is supposed to be set in 2029, fyi. That’s why the robotic moving container trucks are zipping along the freeways

There isn’t any mention of this in IMCDb

Minute 3:41 in the clip below

I, like many of you I suppose, don’t know who Barry Sheene is. (If you do, be cool, don’t blast me in the comments) but I’m blown away that he just beat Joey Dunlop and Soichiro Honda out for induction into Motor Sport Hall of Fame

June 16th, 2017 by admin

Two-time world champion Barry Sheene was inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame on 7 June. Sheene topped a 12-strong shortlist following a public vote, joining John McGuinness, Valentino Rossi and the late, great John Surtees among others

‘Fast Freddie’ Spencer raced against Sheene in the early 1980s and added his own memories: “In 1980, I was 18 and had never raced outside the US. I came over for a match race and won, beating Barry – but he was the first person to come up afterwards and say, ‘Good job’. Then, in 1982, I was signing autographs with him and we’d been there about an hour. I began to stir and he said, ‘Where are you going? We stay here until the last person has their signature’. That was the Barry I knew.”

So i looked around online to learn a bit about him…

“The miracle of his consummate 1976 500cc world title was that it came a year after he emerged from the wreckage of his 175mph crash at Daytona, where he broke his leg, six ribs, his back, a wrist and his collarbone. When he came to in hospital, the first thing he did was ask the nurse for ‘a fag’. (Brit speak for cigarette)
